JPV was able to successfully set a new world record for highest air in a superpipe on skis, launching 8.04 meters (26 ft, 3 in) above the deck of a pristinely cut, 22-foot superpipe. The world record was previously held by Peter Olenick of Carbondale, CO; Olenick set a record of 7.58 meters (24 ft, 11 in) on January 31, 2010, during the first-ever X Games High Air contest in Aspen, CO.Read More
Here are some photos from a shoot I did last March with the Giro half-pipe team in Tignes, France. Simon won the X Games that year and redid his winning run, still drunk from the night before, so the cinematographer could get the shoot. It was quite honestly flawless and he was really run. So classic. Simon is such a creative and humble dude. Happy to see him land some pages in this magazine.Read More
My best friend Robin van Gyn and I went on an amazing European trip last February 2015. We spent weeks exploring the beautiful mountains of Italy, Austria, France, and Switzerland. Robin is such a hard working athlete and is so knowledgeable in the back country. Roxy licensed these images below and used them in everything, from catalogs to billboards in Disneyland.Read More
I recently did a shoot in Italy for Golden Ride Magazine’s winter issue. This issue featured the exceptional snowboarder Robin van Gyn. Here are some of the snippets from the magazine.Read More
I recently covered the 2015 Hood to Coast event, in which Nike participated in. I worked with Conscious Minds, a great team who I’ve worked with in the past several times. The Hood to Coast event is a 24-hour long relay race held every year in Oregon, usually on the Friday and Saturday prior to the Labor Day weekend. It is among the biggest and longest relay races in the world. For walkers and runners, participating in the Hood to Coast event is an item on their bucket list.
Together with a small team in a van, we followed the Nike team’s journey through the race. We slept in Vans, and got hit straight on with a hurricane. Here are some wonderful shots from the said event.
I was blessed to be given an opportunity to do a look book shoot for the Giro team at Tignes France. Here is a great shot featuring Simon d'Artois.
Simon d'Artois is a famous Canadian skier. He's included in the Canadian National Halfpipe team. To many, he's probably known best for winning a gold medal for the Men's SuperPipe at the recently held Winter X Games XIX. He's an all-around, grateful, awesome dude and it was an honor working with him!
I have spent the last 5 weeks in Bali. Mostly on the southern Buket, exploring a little, all coastal and selfishly surf driven. I love Bali because there is so many great people, both local and tourists. Good karma. Most are cool with having the camera pointed their way, and I feel safe leaving my gear with the little restaurants on the beach. Most importantly, there are always waves.
