New Billabong Lookbook Spreads

Last March 2015, I traveled to Mayhaufen, a small town in Austria, together with athletes Helen Schettini, Taylor Godber, and Wolle Nyvelt to shoot some missing pieces for Billabong's ad campaign and 2016 product lookbook. Mayhaufen is such a cool town, and it is home to Wolle Nyvelt. In fact, we stayed at his parents' hotel just a couple of blocks away from his home. We stayed there for three days.

The shoot was done very quickly, but sometimes that's just how you have to do it.  We were accompanied by Andrew Marrinier, the team manager, and Sophie, the art director at Billabong.  There were a great team to work with.  Here are some of the lookbook shots used by Billabong.

Chelsea Coughlin at Brandywine Falls

I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot Whistler local Chelsea Coughlin in RVCA swimwear. It was a fun and creative shoot, and we did it at the spectacular Brandywine Falls, close to my Whistler home. Brandywine Falls is such as beautiful sight, with the water dropping from a 70-metre cliff to the valley below. It is definitely a must-see for anyone on the way to or driving from Whistler. Here are some amazing shots from our quick shoot.

Simon D'artois - Rip Curl poster

I was blessed to be given an opportunity to do a look book shoot for the Giro team at Tignes France. Here is a great shot featuring Simon d'Artois.

Simon d'Artois is a famous Canadian skier. He's included in the Canadian National Halfpipe team. To many, he's probably known best for winning a gold medal for the Men's SuperPipe at the recently held Winter X Games XIX. He's an all-around, grateful, awesome dude and it was an honor working with him!

RVCA Swim Summer 2015 Lookbook with Mahina Alexander

Shooting a swim suit lookbook with a professional model like Mahina Alexander makes things easy.   Although Mahina was sick this day, you can't really tell in the photos.  What a badass! Thanks Andrea Hellebuyck for styling, Matt Barlow making the show run smooth and Chad Huff for video and creative direction.  You guys rock!

RVCA Montauk New York Lookbook with Ashley Smith and Mahina Alexander

If you havn't heard of RVCA by now, you're probably living on another planet.

The brand was founded by PM Tenore. Transcending the boundaries of traditional action sports apparel, RVCA is a design-driven lifestyle brand free from passing trends. Appearing as a natural on the shelves of boutiques as on those of a local skate shop, RVCA is brought together by a group of like-minded individuals from various subcultures, a collaboration of sorts, a lifestyle within itself.

PM Tenore's intention from the very beginning has been to create a platform for RVCA, which combines art, music, fashion and a modern lifestyle in an original way. At the forefront of this vision has been RVCA's Artist Network Program (ANP)-a venture established to showcase the talents of accomplished as well as unknown artists who inspire our generation and push the boundaries of creative excellence.

Established to promote the genuine integrity of RVCA's subcultures while simultaneously giving back to the community, RVCA in essence is redefining the way the market views art and fashion as represented through the balance of opposites and how they coexist: water, oil; air, land; destruction, industrialization; art, science; foreign, domestic; order, chaos; past, present.

Sorry for the cut and paste, but I couldn't possibly sum it up better..

Last August me and some of the other RVCA advocates got the luxury of spending a week in Montauk NY.  Ashley Smith,  Mahina Alexander, Michelle Blade,  Kylea Borges and Nina Long all attended. The photos produced for the lookbook below were created  100% organically.  No stylist, no shot list, no intent really, we just put on clothes and shot photos outside and inside the house we were staying.  I actually just started shooting because I'm not very good at doing nothing. By the time everything else came together, well we already had the content, and the marketting team told us we were done.  Pretty crazy how these things work out sometimes.  I am grateful for such a rad experience.

Caleb & Ashley's Beautiful Rustic Wedding at Evan's Lake, Squamish, BC

Last September, I was fortunate enough to join Geoff Heith of Fill in the Blanks to shoot the cutest Wedding in Squamish.  At Evan's Lake operates a summer camp, outdoor education & rental facility for school groups, until kids go back to school.  At that point the venue is available to rent out and it becomes quiet the prime little wedding destination. Guests can stay the weekend and sleep in the summer camp cabins, there's a lake, tons a lawn space for 200+ people, woods to take shade and great photos, and a kitchen to facilitate meals.  It's one of the cutest set up I've seen around Squamish, at a more then affordable price.

On top of the location, Caleb and Ashley are a lovely couple with an amazing community there to support them.  And that's exactly what this wedding was about: community.

I am so grateful to be able to be apart of something so special and share such loving moments.  Thanks Caleb and Ashley for sharing your beautiful day with me.
